Perfect timing for this piece Steve. My Dad told me on Friday that there were some new additions to the road kit for France (as we are going in May!) but he couldn't remember what they were!!! Was on my list to 'Google' today.

Driven all over the world and the French system seems logical to me (driven through the centre of Rome.... not there was nothing logical about the drivers there... I love driving but that experience caused me to come out into a cold sweat).

Thanks for your first impressions :)
I could happily spend more money on Apple products such as these, but am just enjoying my iPod touch.

Thanks Steve for the review. I have read a lot that the iPad and iPod are used as a team. I have an iPod, a Blackberry and a netbook. I use my Filofax a lot, mostly the calendar for personal use and note taking. I still can't figure out how to utilize the iPod (Touch) to its full extent, except for listening to music. I may need to do more research to enjoy this device.

I've also tried Wunderlist, but I also prefer to hand write my lists. I just find it quicker and easier to maintain a hand written list.

Thank you

Now that's something I would love to have, but the last time I checked they were still expensive here in France. Not just the purchase but also the monthly tariff. I hardly use my current phone really. May be I should look again.... tempting!

I've yet to introduce Mrs M to the full pleasure of the iPad! She says she is happy with her netbook for now!.

I just wanted to try the calendar out to see how it compared, seems to be nice and easy to use... but not as quick as writing in my Filofax!

Thank you

Thanks Diane,
My travel case arrived this week, it's nicely padded, but I have also ordered a leather case for the iPad to live in all of the time. I will do reviews of these when the leather one arrives.

Hi Tim
Yes the calendar on the iPad is very useable. On my iPod touch I've using an App called WeekCal but it's still not perfect, so I still use my Filofax for all my planning stuff.

But if you are using the electronic iCal calendar already then on an iPad it will be fine.

I now only sync my contacts and calendar entries using iCloud and that seems to have solved my duplicate entries problem that I had before.

Go and try one out in a shop if you can.

My Filofax remains in as much use as ever, it's just quicker and easier to access for planning and notes.

I thought I would use my iPod touch less once I got the iPad, but I'm using it just as often. They complement each other so well. I don't store music on the iPad, I just stream it from my iMac, and I use my iPod touch for music when I'm out of range.

But you will both enjoy using an iPad at home.

I have an iPad 2 which I had for my birthday in May last year. I don't really find any overlap with my filofax. My diary and contacts sync anyway as well as to the iPhone - just for the 'hard' landscape. I tend to use my FF for planning. The iPad I use for loads of things alongside the apps - reading kindle books with the kindle app, surfing the net, I can pick up my emails when in bed! You can also download various games etc.

I've been playing with Wundelist for task listing, but still prefer to write these by hand.
